Yvonne Taylor

Yvonne is one of four black women who set up the pioneering lesbian sound system Sistermatic, (1982), alongside Lorna, Sharon and Eddie. They have all been steady heartbeats in Black queer club culture for decades.

From the sound-system era to their beloved Sunday Happy Day sessions at the Century Club to date, Yvonne continues to create joyful spaces for those who still love the dancefloor — especially our 50+ communities who carry the legacy forward.

Yvonne’s staying power is undeniable — a testament to their commitment, craft, and the belief that club culture doesn’t fade with age; it evolves. For those of us who still crave the warmth of the dancefloor, Yvonne keeps the doors open and the vibe alive.
