Using Vernal's recent publication UK Black : Windrush waves Ungodly sins and Early graves as impetus, the evening brings together lived experience, archival imagery and collective memory. Beyond: There’s Always a Black Issue, Dear (1997)
Directed by Claire Lawrie
As part of the exhibition programme, Screening Sunday presents a special screening of Beyond: There’s Always a Black Issue, Dear — a landmark documentary examining Black British experiences within feminism, identity politics and cultural activism.
The screening complements the exhibition’s themes by offering critical historical context and amplifying voices often marginalised within academic and queer narratives.
